This Week’s News
Mission Moment: Matthew 25
Today’s Mission Moment goes toward helping people who come seeking help right here at Pendleton Center Church. Whether it be for food, financial help, or basic necessities, Matthew 25 helps support our neighbors in need.
You can give by designating towards “Today’s Mission Moment” on your giving envelope or by adding “Matthew 25” to your gift online at pendletonchurch.org/give.
What’s next for you as a disciple of Jesus?
No matter how long you have known God, there's probably an area of faith where you'd like to learn more. In January, we're starting some groups that will help participants grow in an aspect of faith together:
Understanding the Bible: If you've never been exposed to how the Bible is organized or how to use it in your walk of faith, this group will teach you those types of things to help you apply God's word to your everyday living.
Discovering Your Gifts and Calling: This group will walk participants through learning the spiritual gifts outlined in scripture. The group will also engage in different exercises to help everyone discern how God might be calling them to use those gifts in the church or community.
Developing Your Prayer and Devotional Life: A lot of people aren't comfortable praying, or they might believe that their prayers aren't effective. This group will focus on understanding the purpose of prayer and different types of prayers. We'll also learn how to use devotional and prayer time to get closer to God.
Sign up on one of the sheets in the back of the sanctuary. The groups will set their own meeting time after the new year. If you'd like more information, see Pastor Scott.
His Only Son Bible Study
Thursdays, 2/1, 2/8, 11a or 7p in Connection Room 1
This is a Bible study based on the film His Only Son, made by the creative team and studies behind the series The Chosen. Join us for some great conversations about what it means to have faith, using the life of Abraham as a guide. This study will also give us a chance to discuss how to look at Biblical/Christian movies critically. We'll meet every Thursday from at 11:00 AM or 7:00 PM.
The Tough Stuff Bible Study
Tuesday, 1/30, 7p
During these times we explore what the Bible says about some difficult issues. Join us for a great conversation. Hopefully, we'll all come away from the journey knowing more about the Bible and these difficult issues.
Intergenerational Angel Wings
Saturday, 2/10, 12-3p, Fellowship Hall
Have you ever considered what life might be like, not knowing where you might sleep, eat, or work? I don't want to consider this thought! It's much too hard to think about emotionally.
"Walk a mile in my shoes." During our February meeting, we will make pillowcase carrying bags and fill them with personal care items. A speaker will share the needs of a person who lives a migrant life.
Please join us! We ask for a suggested donation of $6 per family or $3 per person.
If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to Ms. Becky.
Feeding Hope
Our next meal is Wednesday, February 21
We could use donations of penne pasta, oil, and brownie mix. If you would like to help out, we meet at 3:00 PM to prep and package, and we leave the church at 6:30 to go downtown Buffalo to serve.
Save Your Christmas Cards
Just a reminder to save the fronts of your old Christmas cards and drop them off in Mission Central at church! Your old cards can be made into ornaments/cards for military troops.
This past October, we sent over 900 cards from the Niagara Falls Air Base. These cards arrived in time for the holidays to troops who weren’t able to be home with their families for Christmas. Please keep these men and women in your prayers as they serve our country all around the world.
Thank you for making a difference.

Winter Youth Retreat
Our annual Youth Retreat is coming soon, and our team has been working hard to plan an incredible weekend together. We are so excited for an amazing, fun-filled weekend at Camp Findley! We’ll have a weekend packed with fellowship, games, and snow tubing, while we learn about God and grow in our relationship with Him and others.
Sign up today by visiting pendletonchurch.org/youth and for more information. The retreat will cost $140 per person. This cost will cover food, lodging, and snow tubing. Your signed permission slip and payment will be due by Sunday, Feb. 11.
There are also youth who would like to go on this year’s retreat, but may not be able to attend due to the expense. We are looking for sponsors to help with their cost. You can give a full scholarship or any amount given will be gratefully accepted and appreciated.
If you would like to volunteer or have any questions, contact Adrienne Demmin.
Sponsor A Youth Group Snack
Part of our Youth Group program is a time of snack. We provide snacks each meeting because we believe that food brings them together in fellowship with one another and helps them to connect socially and have casual conversations with each other. Plus, what teenager doesn’t like food?
We are looking for volunteers to help in the following ways:
By providing snack items such as chips, drinks, cookies, etc. that we can use any week.
Providing a pre-made snack (homemade or store bought) on a specific Youth Group night.
Providing monetary donations.
If this is something you would be interested in supporting, please contact Adrienne Demmin.
Thursday Night Dinner Update!
What a year 2023 was!! What a blessing the Thursday dinners have been to both those receiving the meals and those who participate in the preparation, shopping, and serving! We truly love the folks who come out for our dinner, and the fact that we can also serve them spiritually with prayer and communion is something that warms our hearts! It’s really why we do it. Caring for our neighbors is the call, and God has blessed this ministry greatly! We have been privileged to serve over 12,000 meals over the past year!
We want to thank all who support this wonderful outreach mission with your donations, financial assistance, and prayers!
We’re hoping for an answer to prayers that will help supply our take-out containers - we have to move to more environmentally friendly containers that are much more expensive but are state approved. We ask everyone who may be able to help to prayerfully consider financial support for the continuation of this mission. It could be a one time donation or one that would be recurring. This is a critical part of getting our neighbors the food we make, so we ask for your help.
We look forward to another wonderful year of providing dinner and fellowship to the community in Jesus’s name in 2024!
