This Week’s News
Mission Moment: Community Missions
Since its founding in 1925, Community Missions has provided a unique blend of services to address the needs of the Niagara community. In general, they serve a vulnerable population of individuals who have been underserved, marginalized, overlooked, and challenged in their presentations and behaviors through various circumstances.
The initial population served were homeless individuals and families, which are still served today. The agency currently provides 21 programs within its four divisions: Crisis & Community Services, Mental Health Housing Services, Mental Health Recovery Services, and Youth Services.
You can give by designating towards “Today’s Mission Moment” on your giving envelope or by adding “Community Missions” to your gift online at pendletonchurch.org/give.
What’s next for you as a disciple of Jesus?
No matter how long you have known God, there's probably an area of faith where you'd like to learn more. In January, we're starting some groups that will help participants grow in an aspect of faith together:
Understanding the Bible: If you've never been exposed to how the Bible is organized or how to use it in your walk of faith, this group will teach you those types of things to help you apply God's word to your everyday living.
Discovering Your Gifts and Calling: This group will walk participants through learning the spiritual gifts outlined in scripture. The group will also engage in different exercises to help everyone discern how God might be calling them to use those gifts in the church or community.
Developing Your Prayer and Devotional Life: A lot of people aren't comfortable praying, or they might believe that their prayers aren't effective. This group will focus on understanding the purpose of prayer and different types of prayers. We'll also learn how to use devotional and prayer time to get closer to God.
Sign up on one of the sheets in the back of the sanctuary. The groups will set their own meeting time after the new year. If you'd like more information, see Pastor Scott.
His Only Son Bible Study
Thursdays, 1/11, 1/18, 2/1, 2/8, 11a or 7p in Connection Room 1
This is a Bible study based on the film His Only Son, made by the creative team and studies behind the series The Chosen. Join us for some great conversations about what it means to have faith, using the life of Abraham as a guide. This study will also give us a chance to discuss how to look at Biblical/Christian movies critically. We'll meet every Thursday from at 11:00 AM or 7:00 PM.
Intergenerational Angel Wings
Saturday, January 13, 12:00-3:00 PM, Fellowship Hall
Have you ever wondered what living with different abilities might be like? Our January mission focus will be on living with different abilities and Mason’s Mission - an organization dedicated to building an all-inclusive, ADA approved special needs playground in WNY. Come find out your skill with different ability games!
Come join us - we ask for a suggested donation of $6 per family or $3 per person, and will be collecting sensory toys. Sung Kim-Kubiak will lead our devotion
If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to Ms. Becky or Ms. Anna.

Ministry Fair
Jesus called them together and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be your slave— just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
Matthew 20:25-28
The scripture above reminds us that Jesus teaches us that the heart of loving is serving. It misses the point of Christmas to remember how God showed us love and not do anything about it. We might waste the gift of a new year by failing to dream and falling into the same patterns. Love has to be put into action.
This month, we will celebrate the ministry of all Christians at church during the coffee hours on January 20 and 21. Our ministry fair provides a chance to learn more about how you can serve with others in our congregation. There are opportunities to be in ministry with homeless people, prisoners, and others across all age groups. You might feel called to serve in an administrative role, such as our finance or building ministries. It will also be a wonderful way to meet other people in the church and strengthen relationships. Use this opportunity to see where God might be calling you.

Winter Youth Retreat
Our annual Youth Retreat is coming soon, and we are excited to go away for another amazing, fun-filled weekend at Camp Findley! We’ll have a weekend packed with fellowship, games, and snow tubing, while we learn about God and grow in our relationship with Him and others.
Sign up today by visiting pendletonchurch.org/youth to get the registration form and more information. The retreat will cost $130 per person. This cost will cover food, lodging, and snow tubing. Your signed permission slip and payment will be due by Sunday, February 11. Be sure to sign up soon!
There are also youth who would like to go on this year’s retreat, but may not be able to attend due to the expense. We are looking for sponsors to help with their cost. You can give a full scholarship, or any amount given will be gratefully accepted and appreciated.
If you would like to volunteer or have any questions, contact Adrienne Demmin.
Sponsor A Youth Group Snack
Part of our Youth Group program is a time of snack. We provide snacks each meeting because we believe that food brings them together in fellowship with one another and helps them to connect socially and have casual conversations with each other. Plus, what teenager doesn’t like food?
We are looking for volunteers to help in the following ways:
By providing snack items such as chips, drinks, cookies, etc. that we can use any week.
Providing a pre-made snack (homemade or store bought) on a specific Youth Group night.
Providing monetary donations.
If this is something you would be interested in supporting, please contact Adrienne Demmin.
