Genesis Preschool

A great beginning!

As a ministry of Pendleton Center United Methodist Church, Genesis Preschool exists to provide your children with a quality Christian preschool experience.

Recognizing each child as a unique individual, we seek to provide a comfortable atmosphere in which to grow, thus allowing each child's development to blossom in a natural way.

Our preschool is taught by experienced teachers. We also put to use the dedication and talents of volunteers, including parents of the preschoolers. It is the goal of Genesis Preschool to work together with families to provide a positive and loving environment in which to learn.

All children are admitted without regard to race, color, or creed.

The time is coming soon to sign up for our 2021-2022 preschool classes! We have a great staff and curriculum that includes kindergarten readiness skills, basic Christian concepts, music, arts & crafts, field trips, and much more.

Registration will be open to members of our church and current preschool families on Monday, February 15. On Monday, March 22, registration will be open to the community.

Classes available are:

  • 3 year olds, two days a week, morning or afternoon

  • 4 year olds, three days a week, morning or afternoon

  • 4 year olds, five days a week, morning

Space is limited, and classes fill up quickly. Be sure to sign your child early for the class of your choice. If you would like more information about preschool, please contact our office at 625-8306 or email [email protected].

Health and Safety

  • A health form we provide must be completed by a physician & returned before your child can start school.

  • All children must be toilet trained.

  • Arrival and dismissal: All children must be walked to and from the building by an adult. Children will not be released to anyone but a parent or guardian without written consent.

  • Sick children should not come to school. Please report any infectious diseases to the teacher. No medications can be administered by the preschool staff.

  • Please update all emergency contacts and medical information if it changes at any time during the year.

Snacks

A nutritious snack will be provided each session by parents on a rotating basis. Snacks should be low in sugar and fat, and high in protein. A suggested list of snacks will be available at orientation. Parents will be responsible for providing the snack and drink (fruit juice or milk) on the day assigned. Allergies will be addressed individually.

Field Trips

We will have several field trips throughout the school year and will need parent drivers. All children must have a signed permission slip to attend any field trip. All drivers must have proper seat belt and/or car seat arrangements.

Clothing

Children should be dressed comfortably and ready to play. Rubber soled shoes (preferably sneakers) are required at all times. Please mark your child's name on all belongings.

Parent Involvement

While it is not required that parents participate in our sessions, we encourage you to do so. We encourage all family members to share any special talents with the class for enrichment. We will call upon parents also to help with field trips, fundraisers, special events, and as Room Parents. Parent/teacher conferences will be scheduled during the year, or you can arrange for a conference at the teacher’s convenience.

COVID Policies

Our preschool staff and church leadership have been hard at work, establishing policies and procedures that will ensure a safe learning environment during this pandemic.

  • Our class size has been reduced in order to provide ample square footage per person in our classrooms.
  • Classes will be separated into smaller groups of 6 children.
  • While in a large group activity, we will ensure there is space to establish physical distancing.
  • Teachers will wear masks and other PPE to ensure their safety and safety of our students.
  • Students will wear masks, and will be encouraged to clean their hands often.  “Mask break” will be given each day, at snack break.
  • We will continue to use our playground and outside areas to enhance learning.
  • Drop Off: Parents/Caregivers are asked wear a mask and bring their child to the sidewalk of our facility for check-in with the lead teacher stationed near the main entrance.   Screening questions will be asked at that time, and the student’s temperature will be taken using a non-contact thermometer.
  • Pick Up:  Parents/Caregivers are asked to wait on the sidewalk (masked & physically distant).  The lead teacher will dismiss one student at a time to the waiting caregiver.
  • Our classrooms will be cleaned and sanitized daily.
  • Materials used for learning (crayon boxes, pencils, etc.) will labeled with one student’s name, and used by that particular student only.
  • When materials cannot be used on an individual basis, the materials will be sanitized between uses.
  • Snack time will remain a part of our class day.  However, only store bought, sealed items will be served for snack (large box of goldfish / bag of pretzels / cheese sticks / individual bags of sliced apples).
  • We would love to have parent volunteers assist in our classroom.  Our church has established policies for visitors and volunteers, and we will follow those policies to ensure the safety of everyone in our classroom.

Our classroom and class day may look a little different then previous year; however, our mission remains the same. We seek to provide a comfortable atmosphere which enables each student to grow and develop at his/her own pace.  Our staff is excited to begin another year here at Genesis Preschool.
