Plan Your Visit

A Brief Introduction to PCUMC

Welcome!

Thanks for joining us here at Pendleton Center United Methodist Church! We hope that through visiting here, you will get to know us a little better: who we are, what we believe and our hope for you. Maybe you would consider yourself a follower of Christ, or maybe you're new to the idea of church and God and are still trying to decide how these things might fit into your life. No matter where you fall, we're glad that you're here!

COVID Policy Updates

Wednesday, June 16, 2021

Beginning Wednesday, June 16, 2021, we are introducing these updated COVID-19 policies at the church:

Worship Updates

  • No registration is required to attend.
  • Those that are vaccinated will not have to wear a mask or show any proof of vaccination.
  • For those unvaccinated, we ask that you wear a mask to protect yourself, as well as others.
    • While seated in worship, unvaccinated individuals may remove their masks.
  • Our sanctuary will continue to provide "traditional," pre-COVID seating and distanced seating for those unvaccinated and those that want it still.
  • On the weekend of June 27, we will return to Communion as we knew it.
    • Disposable elements will continue to be available for those that prefer them.

Whether vaccinated or unvaccinated, our goal is to provide you a safe and healthy place of worship. If you do not feel comfortable removing your mask or sitting in the closer arranged seats, you are welcome to keep your mask on at all times or continue sitting in the distanced seating.

Additional Updates

  • In Children & Youth Ministry programs, masks and social distancing will continue to be followed by all in attendance.
  • For those unvaccinated, we ask that you continue to wear a mask to protect yourself, as well as others.

Online Worship

Our online worship will continue. Click here more info on how to watch.

What time does service begin?

We are currently holding two weekend services: Saturday at 5:00 PM and Sunday at 9:00 AM.

Doors will open 30 minutes before service starts, and a typical service lasts just under an hour.

What is service like?

When you join us for a Sunday morning service, you can expect to hear the truth about who God is and what He wants for your life. Services are meant to feel relaxed and comfortable while we expect an exciting encounter with God! All ages are welcome in the service and we encourage a multi-generational community. We sing the old hymns and the new songs. You will hear the organ and guitars and drums. We also celebrate age-old traditions like the Lord’s Prayer and celebrating the sacraments of communion and baptism. The messages are designed to connect the Bible to our everyday life and will include film clips, stories, and dramatic elements to help us learn. It is the church at its best: both ancient and contemporary!

Donations boxes will be available as you enter and exit for you to place your offering.

Where do my children go?

Children of all ages are always welcome in our worship services!

Children’s bulletins will be provided in service, just ask an usher for one. You can also download them on our watch page for you to print and bring with you if you would like.

Jr. Church for 3 years - 3rd grade is also offered - read more below.

Jr. Church

Jr. Church is available on Sundays only for children ages 3 - 3rd grade.

Our number one goal is to keep your children safe. Please keep in mind though that “kids will be kids.” We are still requiring all in attendance to children and youth programs to wear masks and social distance, but we cannot guarantee that social distancing will be followed throughout the entire time a child is in Jr. Church.

Children will be staying in Jr. Church throughout the entire service and will not be returning for communion like in the past. Upon arrival, someone will be outside the sanctuary to take your child downstairs to the Ark. You can pick your child up at the outside Ark doors after the service.

What should I wear?

We want you to feel comfortable. After all, we are thrilled that you're joining us and want you to be more focused on the service than what you're wearing. In the summertime, it's not uncommon to see people wearing sandals, shorts, and a shirt. Others still prefer their "Sunday best," and that's fine too.

What do you believe?

As a Christian congregation, we believe God is revealed in the three persons of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit and that we should strive to experience God in all three ways.

We believe the Bible is the primary source of our faith, and that we understand the Bible using our minds, life experiences, the guidance of the Holy Spirit, and the traditions of the church.

Our goal is to gather together the people God has given us responsibility for. This often includes people who don’t fit, or grow in other churches and need spiritual healing. We assume a value in all people. We strive to build a Christian community where Christian relationships grow.

We believe faith in God is supposed to be fun. Exciting, meaningful, enjoyable, and dynamic worship is important to us.

We work to bring God to people, our community, and the world through love in action by caring for others and offering help to those in need.
