Building Connections to God, the church, and each other

Youth Retreat 2021

We had a wonderful Youth Retreat this year. We were able to spend time in fellowship with one another, play games, work on mission projects, compete in some challenges, and grow deeper in our relationships with God through our sessions and small group time.

At our first session, we talked about how we need to seek God and not just go to church. How we need to make sure that we are actively seeking God with our whole hearts and in our daily lives.

In our second session, we talked about change. When we seek God with our whole hearts, that’s when we will start to notice the Holy Spirit working in us and changing us.

At our last session, we wrapped up the night talking about how when we seek God and let the Holy Spirit change us, we can then follow God’s directions for us and act on what he is saying to us.

We had an amazing time at our 2021 “Activate Your Light” Youth Retreat! We had tons of laughs, lots of smiles, and many memories made.

We are looking forward to the next time we get to spend time together, and we encourage you to keep seeking, changing, and acting on the word of God.

Youth Group

7th-12th grade

Come join us for Youth Group at the church! We meet most Sundays from 6:00-8:30 PM. Youth are invited for a fun night of fellowship, team building, devotions, scriptures, spiritual guidance, large group and small group time, and, of course, snacks! Our goal is to always let God’s light shine through each one of us, as we see each of our unique personalities come alive.

Upcoming meeting dates: Sundays - 2/7, 2/28, 3/7, 3/14, 3/21.

Contact (Please enable JavaScript to view this email address) if you have any questions.

Youth Bible Study

7th-12th grade
SUNDAYS FROM 10:45–11:30 AM (ONLINE)

As much as we want to be together, we’ve decided that we can actually share and discuss better right now doing our study online.

We hope that all of you will be back this year. It won’t be the same without you! We have something new planned for each week, so you won’t want to miss a Sunday.

If you plan on being there, contact Dan and Kelli at (Please enable JavaScript to view this email address) and we’ll make sure you get the link.

We will not meet 12/27 and 1/3.

Confirmation

6th-12th grade

A Confirmation Class is offered every year for youth grades six through twelve. We hope that in the end, the youth will have developed a solid Christian understanding, made close relationships with other Christian youth, explored different ministries, determined where their gifts lie, and feel confident and passionate about continuing in ministry.

Confirmation classes offer youth the opportunity to learn more about the Christian faith and what it means to be a disciple of Christ. Through discussions, activities, field trips, exploration of ministries in the church, and a retreat, youth will develop a more personal relationship with Christ, with each other, and Christian leaders as they prepare to become members of the church.

Please contact Pastor Sherry at sherrymahar@pcumc.org or call the church office at 716-625-8306 with any questions.

We will not be holding a 2020/2021 confirmation class. Confirmation will begin again in September 2021.

Hot Chocolate with God & S’mores Leadership

7th-12th grade

Youth in 7th grade and up who are interested in leadership and working with children are invited to become a leader in Hot Chocolate with God & S'mores. We meet on the first Friday of the month for their Bible study, planning time, and fellowship time. On the other Fridays, you get connected to and teach a small group of children.

Youth Mission Trip

Every summer, youth have the opportunity to go on a week-long mission trip working on homes of families in need. We work on fundraising activities beforehand, such as car washes, and a chicken BBQ.

Youth must be at least 14 years old before the departure date to attend this trip.

We’re not sure what this year’s mission trip will look like yet. Check back later for more info.
