Worship

You’re Invited to Worship

Saturday at 5:00 PM (in-person)
Sunday at 9:00 & 11:00 AM
(in-person and live streamed)

Thanks for joining us here at Pendleton Center United Methodist Church! We hope that through visiting here, you will get to know us a little better: who we are, what we believe and our hope for you. Maybe you would consider yourself a follower of Christ, or maybe you're new to the idea of church and God and are still trying to decide how these things might fit into your life. No matter where you fall, we're glad that you're here!

In many ways, Pendleton Center United Methodist Church is like other churches: We worship God, celebrate sacraments, and have Christian Education for our children.

In some ways, we are different. Our congregation is larger and younger than most churches. This allows us to offer activities, programs, and possibilities not found in many congregations.

The most significant difference is our commitment to helping heal spiritually broken people. Many of our people have been away from church for a long time when they start coming to church. We provide a safe, welcoming environment for people to explore a relationship with God from wherever they are on their spiritual journey.

You are invited to join us in seeking God’s transforming power in your life and the lives of those you love.

What is service like?

When you join us for a Sunday morning service, you can expect to hear the truth about who God is and what He wants for your life. Services are meant to feel relaxed and comfortable while we expect an exciting encounter with God! All ages are welcome in the service and we encourage a multi-generational community. We sing the old hymns and the new songs. You will hear the organ and guitars and drums. We also celebrate age-old traditions like the Lord’s Prayer and celebrating the sacraments of communion and baptism. The messages are designed to connect the Bible to our everyday life and will include film clips, stories, and dramatic elements to help us learn. It is the church at its best: both ancient and contemporary!

Where do I go?

We are located at 6864 Campbell Boulevard (at Bear Ridge Road) in the town of Pendleton. For directions, visit our contact page.

Our church has three main entranceways. Take the large middle entrance to go directly to the Sanctuary or use the left entrance to enter through our Fellowship Hall area. Inside, greeters will be happy to help you with any questions that you have.

What should I wear?

We want you to feel comfortable. After all, we are thrilled that you're joining us and want you to be more focused on the service than what you're wearing. In the summertime, it's not uncommon to see people wearing sandals, shorts, and a shirt. Others still prefer their "Sunday best," and that's fine too.

Where do my children go?

Children are always welcome in our worship service, but we know that it’s difficult for most children to focus during services, that’s why we offer Jr. Church during the Sunday services children 3 years old - 6th grade.

Our Jr. Church program is a fun, interactive, and safe place where kids can worship God and engage in their very own relationship with Him. This is a perfect opportunity for your children to learn and start building their lives on Jesus and learning more about Him.

Children can be dropped off in the Ark before worship and will stay in Jr. Church through the entire service.

Our nursery is also open for families to use if needed during our services. You are welcome to use our nursery as a place to watch the service as your child plays and engages with other children who also might be using the nursery.

What do you believe?

As a Christian congregation, we believe God is revealed in the three persons of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit and that we should strive to experience God in all three ways.

We believe the Bible is the primary source of our faith, and that we understand the Bible using our minds, life experiences, the guidance of the Holy Spirit, and the traditions of the church.

Our goal is to gather together the people God has given us responsibility for. This often includes people who don’t fit, or grow in other churches and need spiritual healing. We assume a value in all people. We strive to build a Christian community where Christian relationships grow.

We believe faith in God is supposed to be fun. Exciting, meaningful, enjoyable, and dynamic worship is important to us.

We work to bring God to people, our community, and the world through love in action by caring for others and offering help to those in need.
