The Joshua Connection
The Joshua Connection is the name of the partnership between two churches which are in ministry together. The Pendleton Center United Methodist Church is a larger church in a semi-suburban community north of Buffalo. First United Methodist Church is an urban church in southeast Niagara Falls. These two churches share pastors, staff, resources and real estate in order to more effectively reach their communities with the love of Jesus Christ through worship and caring missions. Contact us if you would like worship times or program information: 716-625-8306 or 283-3370.
You can come and stay at our facility while you do missions in the greater Niagara area. If you would like to bring a group of youth or adults to do some hands-on mission work, you can arrange your own projects, or we can assist you in connecting with missions in our area.
We often work in partnership with Community Missions of Niagara Frontier, Inc. You can visit their website for information about their ministry and for registration forms for working with them: www.communitymissions.org
During August, we hold Vacation Bible School at our church in Niagara Falls: First United Methodist Church. It is right next door to the Mission House. Groups are welcome to come and help with this fun program for children from our neighborhood in the LaSalle area.
We also have on-going projects such as our free community dinners on the 2nd & 4th Thursday evenings. We have a “Kids Connection” ministry to elementary age students that meets each Sunday at noon. Or you could help with our “Inside Out” ministry that connects people with needs to people with assets, such as furniture, appliances, or clothing.
Our facility is newly remodeled and includes 4 sleeping areas, restrooms with showers, a kitchenette for snack preparation, a game room, and a large living room. We can comfortably accommodate groups of up to 16 in the Mission House, and may be able to host larger groups by having some of them stay in our church building next door.
We are able to accept reservations for week-long stays (5 nights) during the summer, or weekends (3 nights) any time of year. We limit the number of weeks the Mission House is available each summer. Please contact us to see if we are available the days you would like to stay.
We provide the Mission House free of charge for any group that wants to come and do mission work in our area. Some groups have asked about making donations to the Mission House. We would be glad to receive donations to help with the costs of operating and maintaining the Mission House, but even if your group can’t make a donation, you are welcome to stay with us! As a suggested donation for a 5- night stay, $150-300 would be average. For a 3-night stay, $75-150 would be typical.
Note: You may need to purchase supplies to carry out your project. Please plan to bring sleeping bags or bedding, and your own food.
