Sunday Morning Adult Study & Fellowship

Why should the kids have all the fun? Join Pastor Lisa, Pastor Tom, and Pastor Mike in the Gym for coffee, food, and conversation. You'll hear all about our Sunday morning opportunity to get to know our PCUMC family better and grow together in Christian discipleship as United Methodists. Enjoy the worship service before or after, but be sure to make the meeting in the Gym with your PCUMC family a Sunday morning priority. Along with worship, PCUMC Adult Study and Fellowship time makes a complete Sunday experience with God for a terrific start of each week. Ages 18-108 and up are welcome to join in as we grow together in Christ. Sundays at 10:15am.

The primary focus of the reflections this year will be Salvation – why there is need of salvation, what salvation is, and how God is working in creation to bring it about. Observe the variety of characters in the Scriptures the LORD speaks to, and when God speaks. Notice that sometimes God speaks out, for example, “Let there be light.” (Genesis 1:3). God speaks to God’s self, “Let us make humankind in our image…” (Genesis 1:26). And God speaks to a variety of human beings and others in God’s creation. You will also notice that God does not simply speak but often participates in conversations. God is interested in a relationship of mutual love with humanity, which was, according to the Scripture, created in God’s image, therefore capable of reflecting God’s love, holiness, and righteousness. Also observe the actions of God, that God has permitted humanity choices, and how the Scriptures reveal the right and wrong use of God-given freedom. Look for the words “love,” “righteousness,” and “holiness” throughout the Scriptures.

You may use the Reflection Questions to give your reading some focus, but this is not a requirement. There is nothing to turn in and there will be no test at the end. The reflections are for your personal enrichment and growth alone.

Remember to let Pastor Lisa know that you’re participating either by writing it on your Friendship Card, e-mail to or calling the church office and leaving a message. Contact Pastor Lisa if you have any questions about the readings or you want to share or discuss your insights.

Remember to pray prior to your daily reading, asking God to give you an understanding of the scriptures and insight into their application for your life.

Women's Book Club

The Women’s Book Club is open to all women and meets the third Monday of each month, year-round, at 7pm. Join us! You do not need to read the book - we welcome all ladies at this monthly get together! Currently, they are meeting at Shawnee Country Club, 6020 Townline Rd., Sanborn, NY 14094. Yvonne Bova is the group facilitator and can be reached at

United Methodist Women

United Methodist Women is the largest denominational faith organization for women with approximately 800,000 members whose mission is fostering spiritual growth, developing leaders and advocating for justice. Members raise up to $20 million each year for programs and projects related to women, children and youth in the United States and in more than 100 countries around the world. Pendleton Center Church has an active UMW Group led by Naomi Laskey, President. The group meets throughout the year on the first Thursday of the month at 12pm, except in January, July, and August.

Men's Breakfast

Come join the Men's Breakfast on the third Saturday of every month (except July, August, and December) from 9-10:30am in the Fellowship Hall for breakfast, fellowship, devotions, and prayer. All men over the age of 18 are welcome! This is an opportunity for men to meet and share with other Christian men in a small group setting with no other agenda. While this group is not service-oriented, we do run the Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper, support the Community Easter Egg Hunt, and promote other needs in the church. If you would like to receive an e-mail reminder before each breakfast, please send a message to Scott Dabb at

Watercolor Classes

Have you always wanted to try your hand at a new hobby? Here's your opportunity!

Pendleton Center Church has two Watercolor painting classes that meet year-round in the Creation Room (Enter from the white double doors, in the back of the church). One class meets on Tuesdays at 1pm; the other meets Saturdays at 9am. The classes are led by Virginia Kelley, who holds a masters degree in education.

Classes are $7 and meet year-round. Each session is two hours in length and the goal is to do a painting at each session. Virginia teaches a lesson each time, both basic skills and advanced techniques! No prior sign-up is required. Try it out!

Certified Lay Ministry

A Certified Lay Minister (CLM) is a qualified United Methodist layperson called to congregational leadership as part of a ministry team under the supervision of a clergyperson, but who often serves the church in many other ways.

A person wishing to become a CLM enters the certification process, which includes training, support, supervision, and accountability while serving in a local church assigned by the District Superintendent. CLMs are laypeople serving out their call as a disciple of Jesus Christ. They are not intended to be reimbursed as either full- or part-time clergy and are encouraged to have their primary source of livelihood beyond their local church.

If you are interested in learning more, talk with one of our pastors to explore the process. Pendleton Center Church has many trained Certified Lay Ministers! And be sure to check out Chuck's rattling's on Certified Lay Ministry!
